We are a two-form entry infant school with approximately 180 pupils on roll. Most children continue their education at South Wootton Junior School, with whom we are federated.  Through our child-centred, inclusive approach, we provide a rich and varied curriculum that meets the needs of every child.  The Role  We are seeking a Pupil Specific Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) skills to support a hearing-impaired child starting with us in September 2026.  The child has bilateral severe hearing loss requiring consistent, specialist support to fully access learning, communication, and social interaction within the classroom.    The successful candidate will:  Work closely with the child in class to support access to learning  Support the use and monitoring of hearing technology  Provide sign-supported communication (BSL/SSE) to reinforce understanding and language development  Help adapt teaching and communication when auditory access is reduced or inconsistent  Build strong, trusting relationships with the pupils, acting as a positive role model  Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction with peers, whilst supporting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.  Work collaboratively with other teaching staff and external professionals as an integral part of the class team.    We Are Looking For Someone Who:  Holds a Level 3 BSL qualification or is willing to work towards it  Has experience in supporting children with SEN and specifically hearing impairment, particularly at EYFS and KS1  Is flexible, responsive, and proactive  Is energetic, organised, and professional, with a caring attitude and a good sense of humour  Is committed to inclusive practice and helping every child thrive  We welcome applications from candidates with a range of experience, including those who are developing their BSL skills and are committed to further training and professional development.    We Can Offer:  A supportive, welcoming team and wonderful children  Strong leadership and a commitment to staff development  Opportunities for
