Finance Assistant Salary : Grade 5 SCP 7 - 9, FTE salary £26,403 - £ £27, 254 p.a. Actual Salary £9,073 - £9, 315 p.a. Hours :14 hrs a week, Thursdays and Fridays 8.15am to 3.45 pm (30 minute lunch break) Contract type : Permanent, Part time, Term time plus additional 6 days (41 working weeks) Start Date : 1st September 2026 The Role The generic Finance Assistant Job Description and Person Specification details are included in the pack but to highlight that we are specifically looking for someone with the following qualifications/attributes: • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths – strong English and Maths skills • NVQ 3 Business and Administration qualification or equivalent • Experience of working in a busy office/admin environment (school experience preferred but not essential) • Ability to manage in a fast-paced working environment with ever changing priorities • Be able to work as part of a team as well as on own • Ability to work closely with the other members of the office team • Ability to plan and develop systems • Methodical with good attention to detail What You’ll Do: • Be responsible for preparing financial reports for governors • Support with the planning and setting of budgets • Checking payroll • Managing purchase orders invoices, payments of goods and services using the school finance software • Journaling income on the school finance system • Bank reconciliation • Prepare for auditors as required • Prepare reports on incomes and expenditure • Obtaining quotes and ordering resources • Be part of a team supporting the overall work and ethos of the school • Be part of a team who are the first point of contact for parents/carers and all stakeholders contacting the school – either by telephone, email and face to face • Support our strong pastoral ethos and contribute positively to our whole school vision • Attend termly trust finance meetings We’re Looking for Someone Who Is: • A highly motivated administrator, • A fantastic communicator who brings warmth and positivity to the team • Committed to inclusive education and supporting every child’s journey. • Energetic, reflective and always striving to be the best for the school. • Excited to be part of a school where relationships are strong and values are lived every day.
