Cover Supervisor Salary: Grade 6 (NJC scale points 13 - 17) Contract: Permanent, Full Time Start date: September 2026 Join a School Where Every Child Can Shine Armthorpe Academy is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and resilient Cover Supervisor to join our committed team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students' learning and development within a thriving and ambitious secondary school. As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring that students remain engaged in learning and continue to make progress. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to maintain high standards of behaviour, achievement and inclusion across the academy. The Role Key responsibilities include: Supervising classes during teacher absence and ensuring students remain on task. Delivering pre-planned learning activities and supporting students in their work. Managing classroom behaviour in line with academy policies. Monitoring attendance and recording student progress and behaviour. Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons. Supporting form registration and wider school activities when required. Assisting with examinations, school events, educational visits and other academy activities. Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive learning environment. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent). Can build positive relationships with young people and inspire them to succeed. Has excellent communication and organisational skills. Is confident managing groups of students in a classroom setting. Has good IT skills and experience using systems such as SIMS (desirable). Demonstrates resilience, flexibility and a proactive approach. Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and educational excellence. Previous experience working in a school or educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
