School Counsellor/Creative Therapist/ Psychotherapist

The school is looking to appoint a school counsellor/ creative therapist/ psychotherapist to begin as soon as possible. The position is part time for 2 days per week, term time only (daily rate). Preferable days would be from: Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Shaftesbury High School has a long history of high quality pastoral care. We offer a number of supportive and therapeutic services to our students, including drama therapy, attachment-based counselling and art therapy. The school has a strong commitment to the value of effective mental health, which includes a robust sense of wellbeing and a well-developed emotional literacy. The Talk Therapy Team works closely with the Learning Mentor Team. We are looking for a specialist school counsellor/ creative therapist/ psychotherapist. We want to employ a suitably qualified, registered and experienced practitioner. Someone who understands how growing up with special needs can affect young people and their families. The successful candidate will have a well-founded way of understanding and responding to the complex needs of such young people. You will understand how to work in a school setting. You will work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team with other professionals involved in a young person’s life. You will understand the importance of your own support and be in frequent and regular clinical supervision.
