This is a unique opportunity to further develop and
deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme at all three levels at one of the
most successful awarding centres in the South East. The post involves organising and
co-ordinating the Award in this thriving and outstandingly successful
school. It requires strong planning and
communication skills and willingness to undertake first aid and other relevant

The DofE
award is a central part of wider educational experience of students at Bennett.
The great majority of students in Year 10 enrol on the Award at Bronze level,
there are large numbers taking the Silver Award and also a thriving Gold group.
We have an established track record as the largest single awarding centre in
Kent. The Award is seen as a way of putting into practice the School’s
Christian ethos by supporting the wider development of young people, fostering
their awareness of the importance of service, helping them to develop qualities
of personal courage and perseverance, developing team work and collaboration
and promoting the enjoyment of physical challenges.
Summary
of Key Responsibilities
Liaison
with national DofE authority
Renewal
and updating relevant licences and risk assessments
Promoting
the Award in School amongst students and parents, including celebration
events such as Award evenings and assemblies.
Maintenance
of student edofe accounts including signing off where appropriate
Monitoring
student progress in meeting with requirements for volunteering, skills and
physical recreation
Arranging
and facilitating opportunities for students to take part in activities
which can contribute to volunteering, skills and physical recreation
Arranging
practice and qualifying expeditions including liaison with tutors, year
managers and expedition leaders for group planning, including providing
materials
Maintenance
of expedition equipment and purchase of new equipment as necessary
Accompanying
and leadingall expeditions, with a TOIL allowance of one day per
each day worked at weekends.
