Bolshaw Local Governing Board would like to appoint an Outdoor Education
Lead with a background in primary education. The successful candidate will have
a Forest School qualification or working towards it.
This is an exciting

will have a love for the outdoors and will
have a passion for helping children fall in love with the natural world while

This role combines hands-on Forest School leadership with strategic
curriculum development. The successful candidate will lead outdoor
activities while embedding environmental education, sustainability, and climate
change awareness throughout the school’s academic framework to foster a culture
of ecological responsibility.

pupils’ resilience
and cooperation skills.

Core
Responsibilities
Lead Outdoor Education sessions: Deliver hands-on outdoor learning / forest school sessions
for children within the school’s dedicated forest site.
Curriculum Integration: Embed outdoor learning and environmental education
across the curriculum and year groups.
Sustainability Leadership: Drive school-wide initiatives focused on climate change
awareness and sustainable practices.
Ecological Advocacy: Promote a culture of environmental responsibility and
nature-based exploration for all pupils.
Person specification:
Skills desirable
Certification: Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification (or
equivalent).
Safety Expertise: Valid Outdoor First Aid certification and
experience in dynamic risk assessment.
Educational
Knowledge: Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and how to map
outdoor activities to EYFS, KS1 and KS2 targets. Promote
positive psychology in behaviour management and wellbeing within in the Forest
School environment and sessions; establish routines and boundaries to ensure
the safety of the children.
Environmental Passion: Proven experience in teaching sustainability,
biodiversity, or climate change topics.
Adaptability: Ability to design engaging, high-energy sessions in all
weather conditions.
Leadership: Strong communication skills to mentor staff and drive
