About the role We are seeking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Facilities Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of our school site. Working under the direction of the Superintendent and senior staff, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Key responsibilities include: Opening, closing and securing the school site, including routine security checks and alarm operation Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. basic plumbing, changing light fittings, DIY tasks) Assisting with cleaning duties, waste disposal, litter picking and keeping external areas safe (including gritting in winter) Preparing rooms and moving furniture/equipment for lessons, events and lettings Supporting contractors on site and ensuring works are completed safely Identifying and reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues Supporting the smooth running of lettings and site use outside of the school day What we are looking for The successful candidate will: Have practical DIY or maintenance skills Be able to work independently and as part of a team Be organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and good communication skills Have an understanding of health and safety requirements Be physically able to carry out manual tasks, including moving equipment and furniture Previous experience in a caretaking, site or facilities role is desirable but not essential.
