About the role

Responsible For Leadership of Phonics, co‐operation and liaison with other professionals, including colleagues and external agencies. This teacher will also have a position on the extended leadership team. Generic Responsibilities In fulfilling the requirements of the post, the teacher will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and in particular will: Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and governors Build team commitment with all stakeholders. Engage and motivate pupils Demonstrate analytical thinking Improve the quality of pupil’s learning Be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, and is judged to be at least good and often outstanding, and takes responsibility for own professional development and has pupils who achieve well. Teach pupils in the assigned group according to their educational needs, including the enhancement of the learning environment both in and outdoors. Observe and assess pupils using an online learning journey platform. Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of assigned pupils and keep such records as are required by the school’s systems. Ensure a high-quality learning experience for all pupils, which meets internal and external quality standards. Use a variety of a delivery methods appropriate to students’ learning styles and the varying demands of curriculum. Provide a positive, and conducive and safe learning environment, encouraging high standards in punctuality, presentation of work and relationships. Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and maintain a good standard of discipline through well focused teaching, fostering positive relationships, and school’s behaviour policy. To be responsible and accountable for subject areas (to be negotiated depending on the skills of the successful candidate): To ensure relevant and appropriate policies are produced and reviewed, according to the school’s schedule and are complimented by associated schemes of work. To monitor and evaluate learning within the curriculum areas in line with the school’s monitoring cycle. (This may include learning walks or use of other approaches, work sampling, planning, review etc). To collate and analyse information and be accountable for standards achieved in curriculum areas. To secure and allocate the resources necessary to deliver the curriculum areas within an allocated budget. To advise and support other members of staff on the content and delivery of the curriculum areas. To identify and secure provision of appropriate in‐service professional development in relation to the curriculum area, with the support of the Headteacher. To lead developments in the formulation and evaluation of the school’s assessment practice in relation to the areas of the curriculum for which lead responsibility is held.
