Salary: HCC - H3 Scale 5-6* actual salary £18,167 - £18,447 including outer fringe allowance, based on 30 hours per week, term time only plus 3 days Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only plus 3 days, full or part time (minimum 3 days per week) considered Start date: September 2026 *Full-time equivalent salary = H3 Scale 5-6 £26,312 - £26,718 (including outer fringe allowance of £729 pa) We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to start in September 2026. The successful job holder will assist and support students with special educational and general learning needs in lessons in order to develop their independence. Although LSA experience is not necessary as training will be provided; applicants need to be confident and able to build supportive relationships with students aged 11-16. Some experience of working with young people of this age group would be advantageous, as would a background in English, Maths or Science. Medical/First Aid experience would also be beneficial. Responsibilities of the post: The Learning Support Assistant's (LSA) main role is to provide support for students with special educational needs. The LSA will support the students to facilitate their learning and development, to help them achieve the best possible educational outcome. Duties will include lesson/classroom support, learning and monitoring meetings with students, liaising with teachers and the SENCo, and running specific programmes and activities to assist the students’ individual learning and social needs. The successful candidate will: Have a strong ability in English and Maths and be confident in supporting students in these subjects Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of students Have an interest in how children learn and behave Provide appropriate role models of behaviour, both in the classroom and around school Really care about children, particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult Promote self-esteem and confidence and help students to become emotionally healthy Be productive and show initiative Communicate effectively and appropriately to students with different abilities and ethnic backgrounds Motivate students to learn and be sociable Work effectively with the staff team and wider school community Be computer literate Attend training courses considered appropriate for the post In return, Leventhorpe can provide: Excellent facilities: To accommodate our expanding roll, Leventhorpe has completed an extensive multi-million-pound capital build programme, including a new Science and Sixth Form block and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts and English block.
