Lead Speech and Language Therapist (SEMH & Communication) Transform Communication. Change Lives. SMKT is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a therapist with a passion for supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working across our schools, you will play a vital role in helping students develop the communication, language, emotional regulation, and social interaction skills they need to thrive both academically and personally. The Role The successful candidate will: Assess, plan, and deliver high-quality speech and language therapy interventions. Support pupils with speech, language, communication, and social interaction needs. Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies. Develop strategies to support emotional regulation, social communication, and positive engagement in learning. Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews. Deliver staff training and provide specialist advice to enhance inclusive practice. Be an active member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who: Is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the HCPC and RCSLT. Has experience working with children and young people. Has an interest in, or experience supporting, pupils with SEMH needs. Understands the relationship between communication difficulties, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and learning. Is committed to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners. Has excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
