About the role

The role in a nutshell As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of the children you support. You will help pupils overcome learning and developmental challenges, making a meaningful contribution to the quality of education they receive. The responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant can be varied and may differ from school to school. At this Academy, the key duties include: Working alongside the class teacher to plan, deliver and adapt learning activities, supporting high-quality teaching across lessons Providing skilled support for pupils, using professional judgement to adapt approaches to meet individual needs Leading lessons or learning activities independently, under agreed guidance from the teacher Planning, delivering and reviewing targeted intervention programmes for individuals and groups of pupils, feeding back on progress and impact Taking a lead role in supporting pupils’ access to their educational provision, including adapting resources and strategies to remove barriers to learning Monitoring and evaluating pupil engagement and progress Supporting the wider class team, including modelling effective strategies and contributing to collaborative planning where appropriate This role offers variety and the opportunity to face something new each day. The candidate The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification and demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development. We are looking for someone who can offer: Experience in supporting children, ideally in a special school or similar environment Evidence of additional qualifications suitable to TA role: NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant, HLTA qualification or equivalent Educated to grade 4 or above at GCSE level in English and Maths A genuine commitment to supporting a wide range of children, including those with individual and often complex needs Strong communication skills A collaborative approach and commitment to effective teamwork  We welcome applications from everyone who believes they meet the expectations of the role regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith, or disability.
