Walliscote Primary School, located at the heart of Weston-super-Mare, is seeking an outstanding family support worker to join our caring and committed team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children, families, staff and external agencies to improve outcomes, strengthen relationships and help every child succeed. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils and their families, providing support across a wide range of needs. A key focus of the role will be to improve pupil attendance, working proactively with families to identify and overcome barriers to regular school attendance. You will build strong, trusting relationships with families, offering practical guidance and support to help establish positive routines and promote engagement with school life.

This role also offers the opportunity to play a central part in developing our community provision. You will lead and organise regular events such as weekly coffee mornings and reading cafΓ©s, creating welcoming opportunities for families to engage with the school, access support, and build connections with others. You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of wider community events that celebrate and strengthen our diverse school community.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. As a deputy designated safeguarding lead, you will work closely with the safeguarding team, external agencies and social care to ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time. You will support families through a range of challenges, including bereavement, family separation and establishing effective routines at home, and will confidently signpost and connect families with relevant services and support networks.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient and highly organised, with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with school staff, external partners and families, demonstrating sensitivity, professionalism and a solution-focused approach.
