About the role

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy is seeking a reliable, dedicated and detail‑oriented Cleaner to join our friendly and hardworking site team. This role is essential in helping us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors. You will play a key part in ensuring our school remains a place where children can learn, play and thrive in a hygienic and well‑maintained setting. Hours: 12.5 hours per week (3.30pm - 6.00pm), term time only Contract: Permanent Key Responsibilities Clean classrooms, cloakrooms, toilets, offices and other allocated areas to a high standard Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum (including barrier matting) Empty bins and manage waste appropriately Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively Follow Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines at all times Wear appropriate PPE/uniform during working hours Take instruction and guidance from the Academy Operations Manager We are looking for someone who has: Good communication skills Ability to work well as part of a team and also use initiative Reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic Experience in a school or similar environment (desirable but not essential) Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices What we can offer: A warm, welcoming and supportive school community Friendly, motivated staff who work collaboratively A positive working environment with a strong commitment to staff wellbeing Children who are kind, enthusiastic and a joy to work around Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development If this sounds like you - we would love to hear from you We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
