Essential Criteria for post of class teacher QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Qualified teacher status Appropriate primary teaching experience An understanding of what constitutes high-quality teaching and learning Evidence of successful achievement in a school setting 1 or more years teaching experience (desirable but not essential) Knowledge or experience of current/recent curricular developments (desirable but not essential) Knowledge or experience of leading a National Curriculum subject or another aspect of school life (desirable but not essential) SKILLS AND ABILITIES Good teaching skills including sound behaviour-management strategies High levels of inter-personal skills with tact and a sense of humour; ability to work as a committed team member Good written & oral communication Ability to relate to, motivate, nurture and inspire children Able to differentiate lessons to cater for a wide ability range. OTHER QUALITIES An ability to demonstrate on a consistent basis the school’s aims values and professional principles Integrity, tenacity & enthusiasm Initiative and flexibility High expectations for pupils, self and staff Good health and attendance record
