About the role

Part time, permanent role Grade 3, 20 hours, 39 weeks (38 term time + 1 week during holidays) Β£25,583 (FTE) Working pattern: 8.45am-12.45am Monday-Friday Are you ambitious, motivated and have a passion for improving outcomes for pupils with SEND? We are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work 32.5 hours a week, term time only in our Specialist Communication and Interaction Provision, Footsteps, which is nestled within our mainstream school, All Saints CofE Primary School, Wigston. The provision has been purpose built to support the needs of children aged 4-11 with communication and interaction needs. We place our students at the heart of all our decision making and we have the highest aspiration for their outcomes. We are always striving for the best for our pupils and keep our practice in line with modern research and pedagogy. We’re looking for someone who is: NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent A strong interest in pupils with Special Educational Needs. An understanding of managing challenging behaviour. High standards of communication and interpersonal skills Excellent attendance and punctuality Strong behavioural management strategies in line with the school ethos and vision A good level of literacy and numeracy Is patient, engaging, caring and creative The ability to work as a team Roles and Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding procedures at all times. To provide agreed support to the teacher in the delivery of planned whole class learning activities. To work under the direct supervision of a teacher to carry out planned learning activities with individual pupils or small groups, providing feedback on their engagement in activities and their achievement of the desired learning objectives. To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans. To observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour, taking action as appropriate in line with relevant school policies. To support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs. To interact with and respond positively to children, young people and adults. To develop positive relationships with colleagues, providing consistent and effective support and working constructively as a member of the school staff team. To support pupils to improve their numeracy and literacy skills through focused learning activities and more generally across the curriculum. To prepare and utilise ICT resources to support pupils learning. Essential Qualifications: NVQ 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent or able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 2 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
