We are looking for an Assistant SENDCO to join our supportive and talented team at Bristol Brunel Academy. As part of the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) - a diverse, ambitious multi‑academy trust - you’ll be working alongside professionals who are passionate about transforming students’ learning and life chances.
You will have completed, or be in the process of completing, the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) or the equivalent NPQ in SEND. Applicants currently undertaking the qualification are warmly encouraged to apply.
To be successful in the post, we are looking for a professional who will assist the SENDCO in leading and managing the provision of special educational needs and disability (SEND) learning support for identified students in the Academy. They will be responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the SEND team, maintaining the SEND register, GCSE Exams access provision, the effective use of resources to support high standards of learning and achievement for all students in line with the SEND code of practice.
The postholder will ensure the individual needs of designated students and the requirements of any statements are fully met. They will deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as personal and emotional development. They will be required to deputise for the SENCO in their absence.
About you:
You will have:
An understanding of learning processes, barriers to learning and behaviour management strategies to facilitate delivering learning activities effectively.
A clear understanding of children’s educational and emotional needs.
Proven experience of working effectively with SEND students, students with additional needs and/or disabilities on an individual basis or in groups.
The ability to work constructively as part of a team, understand classroom roles and responsibilities and own position within these.
