St. Peter’s Catholic Academy "Together, One Family, One Community in Christ” Waterloo Road, Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 3HL Telephone: 01782 235040 Family Support Worker Permanent Position for 30 hours Monday- Friday (Term Time Only) £22,002 - £24,449 Actual Salary September 2026 Start PURPOSE OF THE POST: support the school in improving attendance, develop relationships with families in order to improve engagement with school and work with one or a small group of pupils who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning. The Principal and Governors at St Peter’s Catholic Academy (rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas with ‘exemplary’ behaviour, Ofsted October 2024) are looking to appoint a passionate and motivated Family Support Worker to help to support the school in improving attendance, developing relationships with families in order to improve engagement with school and work with parents to offer parenting support where needed Key Duties / Responsibilities; 1. Liaise with teaching staff to assess and provide particular support to targeted pupils to raise achievement and enable them to overcome barriers to learning 2. Support the school to improve attendance, working with and supporting vulnerable families. 3. Undertake home visits to keep parents/carers informed and secure positive family support 4. Identify the needs and assess those pupils requiring extra support and support the development of individual action plans for targeted pupils 5. Work with parents / carers to help address poor performance/behaviour 6. Support the development of partnerships with external agencies/organisations to set up resources/initiatives to help address barriers to learning 7. Monitor the implementation of plans and report on progress achieved, support the re-integration of pupils excluded from school or following an alternative timetable 8. Provide extra support to pupils through knowledge of a range of activities and opportunities available to them 9. Maintain accurate pupil records and prepare written reports and evaluations 10. Maintain confidentiality in relation to pupils’ personal circumstance. 11. Supervise other learning mentor staff 12. Develop a range of study support activities, such as homework clubs 13. Support the transition of pupils moving between schools e.g. primary to secondary 14. Supervise pupils excluded from class or those following alternative timetables 15. Contribute to the development of activities to encourage family involvement in the school. 16. Any other duties appropriate to the post. 12.
