A passion for reading, literacy, and promoting a love of books among young people. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage and maintain a school library effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with students, staff, and parents. Experience working in a library, educational setting, or customer service environment. Ability to support students in selecting appropriate reading materials and developing independent learning skills. Knowledge of library management systems and cataloguing procedures (desirable). Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and online research tools. Ability to organise and promote reading initiatives, author visits, book fairs, and literacy events. Experience of supporting literacy development and encouraging reading for pleasure (desirable). Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to support the school's literacy and curriculum objectives. A proactive, enthusiastic, and approachable manner with a genuine commitment to supporting student achievement and wellbeing. GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent; a library or information management qualification is desirable but not essential
