This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic candidate to join and help lead a highly creative and vibrant department, either from an existing second in charge role or alternatively for a candidate who may be looking for the opportunity to secure a promotion. Applications are welcome from an enthusiastic and student focused practitioner to help lead our thriving Maths department. The Second in Charge of Maths will be allocated a Key Stage by their Curriculum Leader / SLT Line Manager for whom they will take responsibility for all areas of the Maths curriculum. Experience at KS5 level would be advantageous. Maths is a very popular subject at Copthall and the department achieves excellent GCSE and A Level results. The uptake for all disciplines within the Maths department are good at Key Stage 4, and they include the teaching of GCSE: Maths. At A Level, students are offered the choice to study A Level Maths. Copthall School prides itself on educating 21st century women for successful careers in the creative arts and industries, STEM, human, social and health sciences and the performing arts. Our thriving Sixth-Form which is in the top 12% of schools for A Level results, offers both A-Level and Vocational pathways and we boast an excellent success rate in University applications. Candidates will need to demonstrate: the ability to enthuse students with a love of learning of Maths and be an expert practitioner in the classroom have excellent interpersonal skills with pupils and adults in and out of the classroom be able to help lead and develop our strong team to continue to build an enthusiastic and thriving department, including a specialist technician a commitment to, and be passionate about, maintaining and developing high standards of achievement for learners of all abilities across all Key stages ability to think strategically and inspire and promote high expectations to raise standards further to help monitor quality assurance within the Department, including lesson observation, work scrutiny, student voice and learning walks to use assessment to track progress throughout KS3, 4 and 5 commitment to our ethos of high expectations and no excuses with the belief that every child can succeed the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of students committed to promoting and leading on extra-curricular trips and activities
