The Oxford Academy · Oxford, South East
This position is for a 1 year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave - September 2026 to August 2027. About You Do you believe that every student, no matter their start in life, deserves a high quality, engaging Drama education? We’re looking for a Drama specialist who genuinely loves the craft and understands that for our most vulnerable learners, your classroom might be the one place they feel truly seen. We need a teacher who can take a student from being too shy to speak in assembly to performing with confidence and courage. Whether you are the person making Hamlet feel relevant to a teenager in 2026, helping a student to find their own creative voice or making classic texts leap off the page, you will play a really important role in supporting vulnerable learners who need your expertise the most. We want our stage to reflect our community, so you'll play a huge part in bringing modern, diverse voices into our rehearsals. As a school, we believe that Drama goes beyond the taught curriculum. Whether that’s running an after school drama club, working with our music department to plan our next school arts showcase, your role is about being a visible, supportive presence and a passionate advocate for your subject. You will share our belief that Drama creates joy of learning and a culture of belonging. If you really want to make a difference in shaping the lives of our students, have high standards, want to work in a supportive environment with exceptional professional learning opportunities, and want to see the direct impact of your work every day, we’d love to meet you. Why Join Us This is an exciting time to join The Oxford Academy, where our values of ‘commitment to others, commitment to learning’ drive everything we do. We are looking for a dedicated professional who shares our belief that education has the power to transform lives and communities. At our school, support is a collective effort: it’s seen in our Sixth Formers tutoring younger pupils, our student-led assemblies on social responsibility, and our celebrated Student Council, whose representatives influence local policy on transport and safety at Delegates' Assemblies. We don’t just work within the community; we are an active part of it. From hosting our annual Community Iftar to partnering with the Oxford Hub Pre-Loved School Uniform Shop, we ensure our families feel cared for and included. If you have high expectations of yourself and others and want to be part of a culture where strong, warm relationships are the foundation of learning, we would love to welcome you to the team. While this position is advertised as full time, we will consider those seeking part time hours. Please indicate this is your preference on the application form. Our School At The Oxford Academy, we offer pride, aspiration, and opportunity to every member of our community, with improved learning outcomes and a clear moral purpose.
