About Stephenson Academy Stephenson Academy is a successful and highly regarded specialist SEMH school, established in 2012, dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. The academy’s main provision caters for pupils aged 11-16, alongside an associated independent sixth form provision within the Trust for students aged 16-19. In response to increasing demand for specialist provision, the academy expanded in 2023 through the development of a new primary department for pupils in Years 5 and 6, aged 9-11. This significant investment has increased the academy’s current capacity to 127 pupils. As a specialist setting, the academy provides education for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), whose primary identified need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, including, in some cases, associated behaviours that may present significant challenge.
