We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, passionate, and resilient Teacher to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on the lives of young people who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
The successful candidate will be able to deliver engaging, accessible, and differentiated lessons across the secondary curriculum, supporting students with SEMH needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver high-quality teaching across secondary age groups
• Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of SEMH, SEND, and academic needs
• Create a safe, consistent, and supportive classroom environment
• Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive engagement
• Assess, track, and report on student progress and attainment
• Contribute to EHCP targets, personalised learning plans, and reviews
• Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and external agencies
• Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (applications from ECTs considered where appropriate) • Have experience teaching secondary-aged pupils, ideally within SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision • Be calm, resilient, and adaptable in challenging situations • Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills • Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners • Be committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for all students At Shaw Education Trust, we believe every role has the power
