About this Role Aldercar High School - In Pursuit of Excellence Aldercar High School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and committed Pastoral Manager (Head of Year) to join our dedicated student services team. This is a key middle leadership role within the school, responsible for leading and managing a year group to ensure all students achieve their full potential academically and personally. You will play a crucial role in promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, achievement and student wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a year group, ensuring high standards of attainment, progress and behaviour Provide strategic leadership and direction for the tutor team Monitor student progress using data, identifying underachievement and implementing interventions Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development Lead on behaviour management in line with the school’s Behaviour for Learning policy Work closely with parents/carers, staff and external agencies to support students Coordinate transition processes and key stage events Develop and implement pastoral improvement plans aligned with whole school priorities Support vulnerable groups including SEND, FSM and at-risk students Lead on interventions, mentoring and targeted support programmes Contribute to whole-school development planning and quality assurance About You We are looking for someone who: Has significant experience working with young people Has experience managing behaviour and supporting student wellbeing Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills Can analyse and use data effectively to drive improvement Is an excellent communicator with students, staff and parents/carers Has the ability to manage and motivate a team Is resilient, proactive and able to work under pressure Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and pastoral care Is committed to raising standards and improving outcomes for all students Essential Qualifications: Degree level qualification or significant relevant experience Desirable: Experience working within a school setting Knowledge of school systems (e.g. Arbor, MyConcern) First Aid qualification Safeguarding Aldercar High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
