Beechwood is a thriving 4 form entry multi-cultural school in Luton which is a welcoming community with pupils who have positive attitudes towards their learning and staff who are part of a well-trained and motivated team. We require an experienced Cook to prepare and cook food across two kitchens in our large busy school. You will be responsible for ensuring children receive their school meals, therefore it is essential that you have a strong understanding of the importance of Health and Safety as well as high standards of hygiene and a neat and tidy appearance. A minimum of 2 years cooking experience in a commercial / school kitchen is required Your role will involve: A key aspect of this role will be providing nutritious meals for our students and staff Prepare and cook meals including any special dietary requirements Cleaning duties within the kitchen/dining area Stocktaking/ordering Manage the Food Safety Management System Health & Safety compliance and food hygiene standards Food service to students & staff IT literate Maintain and promote relationships within the school Excellent communication skills Working as part of a team You will need to be well presented Basic numeracy skills are essential A uniform will be provided and we offer full training Applicants will need to be resourceful, adaptable, physically fit and able to show initiative This is a challenging but rewarding role which requires excellent interpersonal skills, versatility and flexibility, where you can make a difference to young children and the school community.
