About the role

What skills and experience we're looking for At The Mary Bassett Lower School we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to become the part time teacher working with us to set up and lead teaching and learning in our new Internal Alternative Provision (IAP), called The Nest. The role is 5 mornings a week, 8.30am -12.15pm We are looking for a qualified teacher who has successfully completed their ECT induction years and preferably with SEND experience. The role may also include some wider school class cover. Our IAP will support pupils with significant SEMH, speech, language and communication needs. Many of our pupils are pre-verbal, have diagnoses of Autism and hold Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Some pupils are awaiting specialist placements. The Nest offers a much smaller learning environment that will facilitate learning and progress for specific pupils. The successful candidate will lead additional staff members. Our aim is to ensure every pupil receives; High-quality personalised teaching and learning Meaningful communication and interaction opportunities A rich and engaging curriculum tailored to individual pathways Opportunities for all children to make progress You will; Have an interest in all areas of SEND Be able to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs Value inclusive practice and collaborative working Be passionate about making a difference to pupils with complex needs Be able to deal sensitivity with vulnerable pupils and their families Have IT skills sufficient to perform the role Be organised and efficient Be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing situations Be able to work as part of a team Have a passion for keeping up to date with new and relevant research Be committed to personal CPD to enhance the curriculum offer Have the communication skills to support the Assess, Plan, Do, Review process with staff and parents. Write necessary reports and hold parent meetings.
