This post has arisen due to the maternity leave of a member of the department. Following the appointment, the Department will comprise eight full-time specialists. Several colleagues also hold wider leadership responsibilities, including the Headteacher, two Heads of Year and three Deputy Heads of Year. You will join us at an exciting time, with the recent addition of an Astroturf, refurbished Fitness Suite and multi-purpose athletics facility, representing an investment of more than Β£350,000 in the development of facilities within the department. The Physical Education Department has a long and consistent track record of achieving excellent student outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. GCSE PE is a growing subject, with three groups currently in Year 11 and two groups in Year 10. At A-Level, there are currently 14 students in Year 13 and 6 in Year 12, with the subject remaining a consistently popular choice. The Department is a highly cohesive and supportive team of able and committed professionals who enjoy their work and take a collaborative and collegiate approach. For a teacher who is enthusiastic about their subject and wishes to develop their pedagogy with keen, well-disciplined students, this is an excellent opportunity and would suit either an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT). It would be advantageous for candidates to be able to offer a wide range of team sports, including rugby, hockey and netball, and/or have a specialism in racquet sports. Games contribute a significant part of the curriculum; boys specialise in football, basketball and rugby, whilst girls specialise in hockey, netball and football. The summer term focuses on cricket, tennis and athletics for all students. The Department seeks to provide opportunities for students of all abilities and celebrates the progress and achievements of all students through its annual Sports Presentation Evening. The Department is a very active member of the South Lincolnshire School Sports Association, with members of staff holding positions of responsibility within the organisation. The School competes in a range of local tournaments and has an excellent reputation at local, county, regional and national level. For the past 20 years, the School has attended national finals in athletics or cross-country. Our netball, football, hockey and rugby teams also compete regularly at regional and national level, with more than 50 students representing the County, Region or Country. The Department has an extensive extra-curricular programme and is widely recognised as one of the most successful state schools for sport within the county and region. Since 2013, the School has appeared in the Top 200 State Schools for Sport on a number of occasions, reaching 24th nationally in 2018. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute fully to this aspect of school life. The Department actively promotes extra-curricular sports tours and activities and, in the past, studen
