You can provide strategic leadership and coordination of provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) across the school. The SENCo is responsible for ensuring high-quality inclusive practice, effective identification and assessment of need, and the delivery of appropriate provision so that all pupils with SEND make strong progress and are fully included in school life. The role carries sustained, whole-school responsibility beyond householder's own class and makes a significant contribution to safeguarding, statutory compliance, pupil outcomes and whole-school improvement.
