We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Science to join our National Online School (NOS) team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral tutors, therapists, the Senior Leadership Team, and cross-company curriculum leaders to develop and implement an innovative digital-first curriculum. NOS is an inclusive technological experience, where meaningful connections are made and everyone is enabled to become the best version of themselves. The TCES National Online School provides therapeutic, virtual education for pupils with complex needs, including neurodiverse pupils and those experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Our teachers create inclusive, differentiated lessons tailored to each pupilβs abilities and learning plan, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. The Head of Science plays a key role in bringing this vision to life through high-quality teaching, curriculum design, and leadership within a virtual environment. This includes ensuring: Delivery aligns with the NOS Curriculum Guarantee Teaching embeds high-quality online pedagogy and project-based learning Effective use of education technology enhances engagement, accessibility and connection Therapeutic principles are integrated into all practice within a virtual learning environment Provision meets the needs of all pupils, particularly those experiencing EBSA Pupils are supported towards appropriate and progressive qualifications The role also supports the induction and development of staff in online teaching practice, modelling best practice in virtual delivery, mentoring colleagues, and embedding consistency across digital classrooms. Essential requirements to be successful in the role are: Qualified Teacher (holds QTS or QTLS or equivalent. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Experience of supporting neurodiverse children and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
